Pablo's Misc Corner - Mid-Season Report
Well folks, we've made it half way through this season and to be honest, it has been a disappointment. At 35-45, the Pirates are well on their way to their 15th consecutive losing season. Fan discontent is at an all time high. Players may not be doing their all on the field... yet, there may be hope. The Pirates have 8 games before the All-Star break. If they could find a way to win to go 5-3 over that stretch, then at least we'd have 40 wins by the break. Another good second half and....
Enough has been said in recent posts about the state of the club, so lets just get to the awards...
1st Half Starting Pitcher MVP: Ian Snell. While he has been neck and neck with the Gorgonzola for the best player on the team all season, I give Snell the edge because of his comments in Anaheim a week ago. That showed the leadership this team has been lacking for years.
1st Half Offensive Player MVP: Xavier Nady. He's hitting for average, and power. Nady is starting to turn into the clutch power guy the team needs. Oh if only he was a lefty....
1st Half Bullpen MVP: Matt Capps... who else?
Best game of the first half: 6/30/07 vs the Nats.
Worst game of the first half: 5/19/07 vs the D-backs, when a 7-2 lead was squandered.
Heres to 46 wins over the next 3 months. Thats 15 1/3 per month for three months....
Petey Pablo OUT!!!
