Baseball Tonight

I'll keep this to the point.

Baseball Tonight sucks now.

Steve Phillips is worthless.

I want the three man desk of Ravech, Gammons and Reynolds.

Anything less is unacceptable.

Last night was the single worst episode I've ever seen. Did you see the part when Steve Phillips argued with Steve Phillips? Terrible. The only thing I can think that would have been worse is EY arguing EY.

Kruk is only OK. Hershiser is boring as chuck....

Gammons is obviously the best. Ravech is amazing. Kruk is OK.

HR was awesome. He is missed.

Forget Baseball Tonight, I hardly ever watch ESPN anymore. What started my problems with the channel was the way ESPN treated the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Maurice Clarett story. It seemed the station had a vendetta against the Buckeyes. It also seemed to me as though ESPN stood up for Clarett, the scumbagged low-life that he is. It was as if ESPN was blaming Ohio State for Clarett's problems, yet they don't do the same with other players.

...And don't even get me started on ESPN's love affair with another arch criminal, Ron Mexico. Never has one athlete been so over-hyped but never accomplished anything. Well, of course, except for Lebron James.

Wait a second here... so you purposefully root against the Cleveland teams because you don't want them to be happy, but then you root for the OSU Buckeyes who are the favorite college football/basketball team of that very city? They probably like OSU more than the Cavs and Indians and maybe as much as the Browns? If you are out to get the city, then why don't you hate OSU?

I thought you didn't want to add to any negativity and wanted to squash the whole thing, but that's cool?

I thought you were against making assumptions yet you say, "they probably like OSU more than the Cavs and Indians and maybe as much as the Browns."??? How about Michigan, I know some very high-profile players from Cleveland that signed with Michigan instead of OSU? Also, they could be Akron, Kent State, or Toledo fans, maybe even Cleveland State, all major colleges.

Not all parts of Ohio are bad. If you look at the names, the Browns, Indians, and Cavs all have Cleveland in their name, they represent Cleveland. Ohio State represents Ohio. For example, I have nothing against Cincinnati.

I'm not going to get political on here either, but that also plays a part in my hatred for Cleveland. It's not just one thing, but a combination of factors that leads to my total hatred for the city of Cleveland and their fans.

But the thing is that you specifically went out of your way to say you were rooting against the Cavs because you are anti-Cleveland. You say that you purposefully are rooting against the Cavs just so the people of Cleveland are not happy. I don't know if you've ever been to Cleveland, but you see almost as many OSU jerseys as Browns. They are VERY unhappy when OSU loses. If you are so anti-Cleveland, why are you playing both sides of the fence on this issue? If you are gonna trash the city, you better trash their college too.. otherwise you are being a tad hypocritical.

You also say you hate LeBron because he represents Cleveland. Well what do you think Troy Smith and Ted "I've got a Lisp" Jr and his pops represent? C-Land. So if you root for those guys, you are rooting for Cleveland.

It's like the "a square is a rectangle but a rectangle is not a square" debate.

On first Reference, Cavs, Indians and Browns scream Cleveland.

On first reference, OSU screams Columbus.

OSU really and truly has nothing to do with Cleveland other than both are in Ohio.

Whether or not fans in Cleveland like OSU is irrelevant.

I'm sure there are a few people in Cleveland who like the Steelers. Should we hate the Steelers because of them?

Of course not.

You are mixing up the debate. Its OK for people in Cleveland to like Pittsburgh if they want. Its ok for people in Pittsburgh to like the Cavs if they want.

The entire point i'm making is that you specifically wrote an article singling out Cleveland for hatred. You yourself said you were against all things Cleveland for the very purpose of making those people unhappy. You said you had no beef with the Cavs, just wanted them to lose to spite Cleveland because you were against the teams that Cleveland likes. You said that. I said its the wrong view to take. But now you go counter to the very argument you made in the first place by liking OSU!

You make an argument that I disagreed with in your article last week about the Cavs. Now all I do is ask you to be consistant. If you hate all things Cleveland, hate all things Cleveland. If you think its OK to like some teams and not others, then say you were wrong in your article when you said you were against all the teams from there.

PP- I'm confused a bit. You seemed to be speaking to Derek Bell for President like you thought I wrote that?(I agree with what he said though) Like Derek said, OSU identifies with Columbus. The professional sports teams of Cleveland, Cleveland. If Grady Sizemore was traded to Pittsburgh, I would root for him. Just because a high school player from Cleveland goes to Ohio State, the state that I live in, I'm not going to root against Ohio State. While Cleveland may be in Ohio, the state of Ohio does not revolve around Cleveland, thank god. However, while Ginn and Smith played at Cleveland Glennville for the Tarblooders I did not root for them.

I have been to Cleveland several times, and while I hated the city, I was respectful. A few weeks ago a friend of mine had a bachelor party in Pittsburgh and hade some Cleveland visitors attend. I can't count how many times they made rude, vulgar, and unfounded remarks about the city of Pittsburgh. They should show a little respect to a city with a team that owns them in football and has actually won a championship in the last 40+ years. I showed respect when I visited Cleveland. It just brings a smile to my face when I think about Cleveland fans as their hopes and dreams get flushed down the toilet and end up in Lake Erie. Honestly, I can't wait for football. It will be just as fun when Brady Quinn is on his back for the first 3 games and the Browns fans will start blaming the refs and calling for Crennel's head. Oh, and of course, rooting for whoever is playing the 5 time world champion Steelers because their own miserable team is long out of the running.
