Penn State Really Does Suck
I know I promised no posts about Penn State on this site, but today I had a revelation.
All Pitt graduates have it ingrained in them, almost at the DNA level, that Penn State Sucks. In fact, after each Pitt TD the band plays the fight song and somewhere over the course of time the part of the song where the students spell out "victory" was changed to "P-E-N-N-S-T-SUCKS". (Who knew how prophetic that chant would turn out to be!) The two football teams had their rivalry dissolved when Diaper Man threw a temper tantrum and refused to schedule games against Pitt following the 2001 season. Yet, the rivalry is just as intense as ever and most students do not know why they blindly subscribe to it.

We need to bring back the P-E-N-N-S-T SUCKS chant...not sure how it got phased out at games, but it upsets me not to hear it like you used to at games anymore. And how could you leave off the women's basketball coach from your list?
See, this list has to be of people who went to PSU straight and came out homosexuals. That woman's bball coach had to be playing for "the other team" the whole time otherwise she wouldn't be so into basketball.
In response to Tenacious J.... The Penn State sucks thing was phased out around our junior/senior year... that was PER THE UNIVERSITY. They actually removed the part of "Hail to Pitt" that goes "Lets Go Pitt...Lets Go Pitt... P.I.T.T P.I.T.T Lets go Pitt!" for the very reason of getting rid of the chant. Had to do with sportsmanship and was utterly stupid. Now you have a whole generation of fans who do not know they are supposed to say "PENN STATE SUCKS."
Sure, Penn State Sucks. Um, Maybe none of you noticed, but as Pitt managed to lose 6 of 12 games, Penn State won 9 out of 13. The 13th game is Penn State's bowl game which they won with a 20-10 score. Pitt was also victorious in their... oh yeah they didn't get a bowl game. Also, the last time anyone from Pitt was nationally recognized with achievement awards was 2003, while Penn State has had MULTIPLE award nominees and winners for at least two consecutive years. And with Penn State's Athletics graduation rate is higher than Pitt in both Football and basketball, I can see how you support "P-E-N-N-S-T SUCKS"... by the way ST stands for Street Not state.
Also- Kudos for Great sportsmanship with that chant. Aren't chant's supposed to support the team and show school spirit? Penn State should be flattered you all find a way to bring up their name during YOUR football games... nice to know you're thinking of us! :c))

That's because your attendance has gone down the shitter. The reason you don't chant this anymore is because there's no one there to chant it. I've never seen more empty seats than at a Pitt football game.

If you want to talk current day, check pitts record and penn states record this century. I'm sure you will be shocked to find out Pitt betters the superpower PSU in this area too.
The funny thing is, if you ask any student at Pitt they will tell you they hate Penn State, but to the Penn State students Pitt doesn’t even hit our radar screen anymore. We have moved on to rivalries with bigger and better teams. Don’t be jealous that the Big 10 doesn't want you Pitt... your moms still like you!
As for football records that doesn't mean squat. The simple fact is that why your stadium is sparsely packed, Beaver Stadium has sold out of almost every game and people are paying hundreds of dollars for just one ticket. It's sad, that you guys are the only ones still in this rivalry, so bring your chant back.. cuz it’s the only thing you have left.
We've got no problem with you expressing how much you feel Penn St is better than the Pope, but we do have a problem with swearing... sorry, had to delete your post.
And also, if Penn St. would kick Pitt's butt at football, then why won't they put us on their schedule. We've been asking for 10 years now to keep a home and home on our schedules. It seems Jo Pa can only change his diaper at home and is afraid to go on the road.

When was the last time Pitt made a bowl game. Just remember that you play in one of the weakest conferences. Penn State will forever be better than Pitt. It is nice tho how you recognize us when you should be concentrating on your own team ... but you guys can't win so it doesn't really matter.
Pitt wishes it could be at Penn State's level.

Penn State a Good football team... Hah thats funny. Why does one of the largest colleges in college football play teams like Coastal Carolina? It seems like "Sped state" always likes to line up several of the worst teams they can find and put them on their schedule.
When was the last time Pitt made a bowl game.
Sentences like this are questions and should end with a question mark, but i guess that's too hard to teach at Penn State. Oh, and Pitt went to a bowl game in 2008 by the way. And Pitt's 9 National Championships sounds a lot better than PSU's 2 Championships.

While it's hard to agree with the way in which this article presented itself (Penn State turns you gay?) I have to say that I agree with the premise. Talk to a Penn State student or fan and all they want to discuss is football. That's great, but what will it do for you after you've graduated? Pitt alumni will have a degree of which they can be proud, since unlike Penn State we have academic standards. UPMC is no longer quickly becoming one of the best medical institutions in the country - it already is. To the Pitt faithful out there just remember this: Penn State students have come from their trailers to State College. Penn State is obnoxious and so are its fans. I honestly don't understand why some Pitt supporters even want to play Paterno anymore. Pitt has less to gain from that match up than Penn State, IMHO. Finally, for those who care, here is the real reason Penn State won't schedule Pitt. A while back now, Penn State came to Pitt about creating a new conference specifically for basketball. Pitt's athletic direct laughed them out of the room and as retribution the home and home series was not renewed.
